A chance invitation to come & check out Jake Davey’s studio turned out to be one of the best decisions I’ve made! For the last eight years I’ve been on the hunt, looking for the right studio to get out what was in my head & properly replicate the sound I have in terms of how my music should sound in recorded form. What stood out to me the most was how quick Jake was in setting up & getting everything sounding exactly how I wanted/ needed before I begun playing. In other studios I’ve spent hours & in some cases, days trying to explain what I was looking & hoping for & still being a off target in the end. The way Jake works comes straight from the mind of a musician who understands that “vibe” & “feeling” of a track is much more important than technical “traditions” or “rules” which can happen when you’re being recorded by someone who doesn’t actually play music themselves... This definitely makes things less stressful & really allowed me to relax & get comfortable in the space so I could properly focus on the recording & my performance rather than the sound & the uncertainty of if it could be fixed down the track! It’s a 10 out of 10 environment for recording music & the fact that it is only a few hours up the road & not over seas (like I have done in the past) is just too convenient... Most importantly Jake is easy to get along with & gives continuous positive feedback! If you don’t click with the person recording your music & they don’t give you the confidence to play your best then why bother? Jake ticks all the boxes for me & my music! I will be back!
